About Chronicle
Chronicle is building a new way to create presentations, combining AI with beautiful, structured storytelling. We’re a small team backed by Accel, building a product used by hundreds and thousands of founders, operators, and teams who care deeply about communicating ideas clearly.
We’re building a world-class storytelling team at Chronicle, and we’re looking for one of the first Brand Designers to help shape how the product shows up in the world. This role sits closely with marketing and product, where you’ll collaborate on product launches and campaigns with visual storytelling at the forefront.
If you enjoy companies like Notion, Perplexity, Cosmos, or Apple, you’ll likely enjoy the kind of brand we’re building.
About the Role
This isn’t a traditional brand design role. You’ll be the creative partner on all things brand and marketing at Chronicle, from shaping how the product shows up in the world, to bringing our biggest ideas to life.
A lot of the work will sit at the intersection of product, storytelling, and internet culture. One week you might be working on a launch, the next on a campaign, a new visual direction, or something we haven’t even thought of yet.
You’ll design across:
- product launches and announcements
- social and storytelling content
- campaigns and experiments
- presentation templates and visual systems
You should be someone who obsesses over clarity, structure, and taste. Someone who can take something messy or abstract and turn it into something people instantly understand (and want to share). This is a high ownership role. You won’t be waiting for briefs, you’ll help define what we should even be making.
Key Responsibilities
- Visual Storytelling: Design compelling visual narratives that bring Chronicle’s brand and product to life. This includes launch visuals, social graphics, illustrations, and storytelling assets that communicate complex ideas in simple, elegant ways.
- Product Marketing & Campaign Assets: Create visual assets for product launches, announcements, and campaigns. Help translate product updates into clear visual stories across social media, blog posts, launch videos, and other marketing surfaces.
- Web & Marketing Design: Create engaging landing pages and web experiences, often utilizing tools like Framer or supporting growth-focused marketing sites.
- Presentation Design: Design presentation templates and visual systems that reflect Chronicle’s design philosophy: clear structure, strong typography, and beautiful storytelling.
- Brand Evolution: Evolve the visual identity system, including typography, layout, and image style, to keep the brand fresh and exciting.
Qualifications
- Experience: 4–6+ years of experience in brand design, marketing design, or visual design roles, ideally within startups, design studios, or product companies.
- Portfolio: A strong portfolio demonstrating excellent visual design, typography, and brand sensibility. We look for designers who can translate complex ideas into clear visual narratives.
- Design Tools: Expertise in Figma and Adobe Creative Suite. Experience with web design or prototyping tools such as Framer or Webflow is a plus.
- Motion: Experience with motion design or animation (After Effects, Jitter, Screen Studio, etc.) is a strong plus, especially for product storytelling and launch visuals.
- Generative AI (bonus): Experience with image generation tools (Midjourney, Flora, Weavy, Reve, or similar) with strength in prompting to get consistent results is a bonus.
What We Value
- Craft: Attention to detail, typography, and composition. We care deeply about the quality of what we ship.
- Storytelling: Ability to take abstract ideas — especially around AI and communication, and turn them into clear, engaging visual narratives
- Ownership: A proactive mindset and willingness to experiment, iterate quickly, and ship creative ideas.
- Taste: Strong aesthetic judgment and curiosity about modern product design, brand systems, and internet culture.
Location
Remote-friendly. San Francisco is a plus but not required.
